Artifact of Dissonance

Any monster can spawn on any map: Stone Titans on stage one, beetles on the moon. The director picks from every monster in the game.

More varied runs and, early on, more dangerous ones (a golem on stage 1 hurts). It changes everything the combat director picks from the map's list; it does not change fixed spawns (the six that open Mithrix's second phase) or the Void directors (the Reavers of the escape, the Voidling). The Scavenger can show up before looping, and Hermit Crabs never do.

How to unlock it.

  1. Reach stage 5: Sky Meadow or Helminth Hatchery.
  2. Find the Compound Generator: on Sky Meadow it is under the map, in a room you drop into through a hole; on Helminth Hatchery, at the very top.
  3. Enter the code in the nine slots and use the laptop next to them. A purple portal opens.
  4. Enter the portal: it leads to Bulwark's Ambry, with the artifact already active for the trial.
  5. Take the Artifact Key in front of the Artifact Reliquary and use it on it. Monsters start spawning and drop more keys; each key takes a chunk off the reliquary's health.
  6. Break it: the artifact is yours for good and a portal to a first stage opens so you can keep going.

In co-op, the group can enable any artifact that any player has unlocked. Artifacts are chosen in the menu before the run starts.
