Artifact of Vengeance
Game text: «Your relentless doppelganger will invade every 10 minutes.»

Every 10 minutes a copy of you (a doppelganger) appears with your survivor and your items, and comes for you. Kill it and it drops an item.

The more items you have, the worse your copy is: with Brainstalks or Focus Crystals it hits very hard. Kill it before it hits: Captain and Railgunner have it easy from range.

It is in the base game. 14.6% of all Risk of Rain 2 players on Steam have it, from Steam's public stats on 31 October 2026.

How to unlock it.

  1. Reach stage 5: Sky Meadow or Helminth Hatchery.
  2. Find the Compound Generator: on Sky Meadow it is under the map, in a room you drop into through a hole; on Helminth Hatchery, at the very top.
  3. Enter the code in the nine slots and use the laptop next to them. A purple portal opens.
  4. Enter the portal: it leads to Bulwark's Ambry, with the artifact already active for the trial.
  5. Take the Artifact Key in front of the Artifact Reliquary and use it on it. Monsters start spawning and drop more keys; each key takes a chunk off the reliquary's health.
  6. Break it: the artifact is yours for good and a portal to a first stage opens so you can keep going.

In co-op, the group can enable any artifact that any player has unlocked. Artifacts are chosen in the menu before the run starts.
