Lunar Coins, how to get there.

The only currency that carries over between runs. Where they come from and what to spend them on.

// what it is

What it is.

Lunar Coins are blue and carry over between runs: gold is lost when you die, coins are not. They open the hidden places of the game (the Bazaar and, from there, the Void Fields) and buy lunar items, the blue ones that give something strong in exchange for a drawback.

// step by step

Step by step.

1

Kill enemies: each one has a 0.5% chance to drop a coin. Every time one drops, that chance is halved for the rest of the run, so the first ones are the easy ones.

2

End the run one of these ways: 10 coins for beating Mithrix and escaping the moon, 10 for beating the Voidling in The Planetarium and 5 for obliterating at the Obelisk of A Moment, Fractured (15 if you carry Beads of Fealty).

3

Complete challenges: the first time you finish each one gives 1 to 10 coins.

4

Spend them where it counts: 1 at a Newt Altar (opens the Blue Portal to the Bazaar), 1 at a Lunar Pod (a random lunar item), 2 at a Lunar Bud in the Bazaar (you see the item first), 3 at a Lunar Seer (you pick the next stage) and 1 per pet of the frog in Commencement (10 open the portal to the Planetarium).

FAQ.

Do you lose Lunar Coins when you die?

No. They carry over between runs, win or lose. Gold is what you lose.

How many Lunar Coins does Mithrix give?

10 for beating him and escaping the moon. The Voidling gives another 10 and the Obelisk 5 (15 with Beads of Fealty).

What is the fastest way to get Lunar Coins?

Challenges (1 to 10 each the first time) and finishing runs: a run that ends at the Obelisk gives 5 even if you played it fast.
